These modules are designed to help learners acquire the skills they need to understand and use numbers in real-life.  The material is organized into nine modules with accompanying answer keys.

Module 1:     Reading and Writing Real-Life Numbers
Module 2:     Adding Real-Life Numbers
Module 3:     Subtracting Real-Life Numbers
Module 4:     Multiplying Real-Life Numbers
Module 5:     Dividing Real-Life Numbers
Module 6:     Decimals in Real-Life
Module 7:     Measurement in Real-Life
Module 8:     Fractions in Real-Life
Module 9:     Percentages in Real-Life

The modules were developed by creating an updated version of the now out-of-print Math for the Real World series. The content has been reorganized, supplemented and revised.  As the material was updated, the content in the Breakthrough to Math series was reviewed to make sure all concepts in the first two levels were covered in the modules. Customary measures were replaced with metric measures.  American currency was replaced with Canadian money.  American content was “Canadianized”.

The applications were re-cast as task-based activities and cross-referenced with the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF).  An OALCF connection section is included for each task-based activity in the answer keys. The workbooks can be printed or completed as fillable PDF’s.
